Just sleep on it

5-9-21

Now that the slab is cleaned up and fairly flat I started drawing out the potential final shape directly on the slab. After multiple back and forth with different drawings my friend and I settled on 2 different layouts. The first option has the neck in line with the maple stripes, but would require me to add a bit more walnut in the bottom left corner of the guitar in order to keep the lines flowing better. The second option is more in line with my original doodles and has the necks angled relative to the maple stripes.

Personally I like the second option and embrace the chaos the multiple “lines” of the guitar would create. My friend was a bit more stuck between both, so I told him to sleep on it. We’ve both asked some of our friends which they prefer and overall the answers lean towards the second option. Since this is a rather big decision I decided before I make any cuts on the slab I should probably first test how to fit the neck, using some scrap wood as a stand in for the slab.
