For the winter of 2019-2020 my family and I decided to rent a house near Joshua Tree National Park for the holidays and spend our winter in style. We planned our trip months in advance and to our surprise it happened to snow right before we got there! Those in my family who rarely see snow enjoyed this immensely but those who regularly spend winter under snow were less than pleased.
For our first hike we decided to go up one of the small snowy mountain. We were blasted by strong frigid winds as soon as we crested near the top. It was worth it for the view.
Each subsequent day/hike became less snowy as it had started to melt. The snow on popular walkways had also been trampled into ice. We took this as a hint to go explore to non-snowy parts of the park.
